  • National Sports Week

Tue 02 Jul 2019 Miss Norman

Last week was a very busy week for Grange Park Junior School. It was National Sports Week, which meant we had a range of different activities going on throughout the week. On Monday Year 6 got the chance to try out BMXing, on Tuesday Year 4 showed off their Taekwondo skills, on Wednesday the Year 3s were trying to hit 'holes in one' in a Tri-golf taster session and on Thursday the Year 5s had their fitness tested in a boxing session.

We were very lucky to have great weather all week which meant all of the children also had the opportunity to run a mile each day, which they did with much enthusiasm.

The fruit stall was a big success for the third year in a row with lots of children bringing money in to purchase a pot of fruit or a banana. Now lets continue this healthy trend by children bringing in their own healthy snacks each break time.

Lastly, thank you to all the parents who attended the mindfulness sessions with Miss Phillips, we hope you feel relaxed and recharged for the summer ahead.

  • Middlesex Cricket Taster Sessions

Fri 14 Jun 2019 Miss Norman
On Monday 10th June Year 6 and some lucky Year 5 children took part in a cricket taster session run by Middlesex Cricket. The children took part in a range of activities testing their ability to bowl, throw, catch and run. The children worked extremely hard throughout the sessions and the coaches were very impressed with the effort and behaviour showed by all of the children.
  • Year 3 Gymnastic Taster Session

Tue 21 May 2019 Miss Norman
On Monday 20th April all of Year 3, plus some very lucky Year 4s, got to take part in a gymnastics taster session. The children got to practice some basic gymnastics skills such as shapes, jumps, rolls and even headstands. The children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the session and it was a great chance for them to revisit skills that they had learnt back in the autumn term.
  • Year 5 Intrahouse Basketball

Fri 10 May 2019 Miss Norman
On Friday 10th May Year 5 took part in a basketball inter-house competition. Once again the sports crew were there to assist with the organisation, referring and media sides of the competition. The teams battled hard through the competition with quite a few of the matches finishing with draws. In the end there were two winning teams, Anning and Newton, who were both tied on 5 points. Well done to everyone who took part.
  • Queens Park Rangers Tournament

Fri 10 May 2019 Miss Norman
On Thursday 9th May ten Year 5 children travelled to Loftus Road, Queens Park Rangers Stadium to take part in a football and tag rugby tournament. This was a very special opportunity for a number of different of reasons. Firstly, the tournament took place on the ground’s football pitch, an experience that our children will never forget! The children also got to enter the pitch through the same tunnel the players do. Finally, the tournament was led by the children, they were in charge of the positions, formations, subs and refereeing. There were no scores kept, meaning no winners or losers, it was about the children being able to play, try his best and have fun.
Throughout the day awards were given to different for schools for the best joke, best celebration and the best magic moment. Grange Park won an award for the best song which they made up themselves on the journey to the stadium.
I was so proud of how the children took control of their team and showed respect to each other as well as the other teams, they were a real credit to our school.
  • Year 3 Intrahouse Dodgeball

Mon 01 Apr 2019 Miss Norman

This Thursday lunchtime Year 3 took part in their first intrahouse competition - Dodgeball! Being a firm favourite with all the children it wasn't a surprise that we had over 40 children turn up to take part. The teams battled hard showing real determination. In the end, Anning were announced winners. They won all 3 of their games.

A big thank you to the School Sports Crew for giving up their lunchtime to help run the competition.

  • Boys Football League

Thu 28 Mar 2019 Miss Norman

Grange Park Junior School boys football team competed in their final fixture of the season on Wednesday against Belmore Academy. The team came up against some tough competition and finished with a disappointing 6-0 defeat. The boys worked hard throughout the game and didn’t give up even though they were losing.

The C team also played against Belmore on Wednesday and were happy to get a 5-3 victory. They played really well as a team and worked hard to secure the win. A special mention to Shadhin who scored 4 goals!!!

Finally a big thank you to all the families and carers who supported us throughout the season. We wouldn’t be able to attend these fixtures without your help.
