Religious Education
At Grange Park Junior School, pupils are taught Religious Education through an engaging curriculum. Each year group is assigned one main religion as well as a Faiths and Values strand in which they cover various aspects of the six major faiths. Pupils are provided with a hands-on experience such as the use of a range of artefacts and educational visits to places of worship.
Whole school assemblies also provide pupils with the knowledge and understanding of important festivals and events across all faiths.
Religious Education allows pupils to:
- acquire and develop knowledge and understanding of Christianity and other religions, principally Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism
- learn from different world religions and provide opportunities to explore and express their own responses and personal beliefs
- understand the relationship between beliefs and practices
- develop an understanding of the influence of faiths, values and traditions on individuals, communities, societies and cultures
- develop empathy and respect and the ability to make reasoned, critical and informed moral judgements
- combat prejudice
At Grange Park Junior School lessons are planned based on both the National Curriculum Framework for Religious Education and the Hillingdon Religious Education Agreed Syllabus.
