Governors

Grange Park Junior School governing board meets regularly and works closely with the School to ensure pupils are provided with a high quality of education in a safe, supportive and stimulating environment. 

 

Governors have the following key roles:

  • To ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • To hold the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
  • To oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure its money is well spent

Governance Arrangements

The 'Instrument of Government' sets out how the governing board of a maintained school is constituted and for Grange Park Junior School this is as follows:

2 x Parent Governors

1 x Local Authority (LA) Governor

1 x Staff Governor

1 x Headteacher

5 x Co-Opted Governors

2 x Partnership Governors
 

The total number of Governors is 12.  We currently have a vacancy for a parent govenor.  Please see the Vacancy Page for full details.

 

The Full Governing Board meets 5 times per year. Every Governor is also a member of at least one of our two main Committees which meet at least termly.

Committees:

Premises & Resources - which looks at Personnel, Finance and Premises.

Achievement -  which looks at the standard of teaching and monitors data on attainment and achievement and listens and responds to the views of all stakeholders.

The governing board also has a Pay Committee which meets once a year to consider pay awards for staff and at other times where necessary.
