The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson

Please watch ‘The Snail and the Whale’ by Julia Donaldson via this link OR through BBC iplayer by searching Julia Donaldson.

Once you have watched ‘The Snail and the Whale’, please complete the following activities in your project book (1per day):

Monday:

  • Choose one of the places that the snail and the whale visit and write a diary entry as the snail about her time there.

Tuesday:

  • In the story, the whale gets stuck on the beach. Can you write a letter to the school children asking for their help to save the whale?

Wednesday:

  • The snail and the whale travel across the ocean to visit many places together. Can you use the ocean as the main setting and write a description about it? (If they were in the middle of the ocean, what would they see around them, what would they hear, would they see other sea creatures?)

Thursday:

  • Imagine you were the snail in the story and you could choose a place to visit with the whale. Where would you go? Write a list of items you would pack in your bag to take with you. Can you explain why you would take them?

Friday:

  • If you could go on an adventure on the back of the whale, who would you take with you, and why?
