Striving to be the best that we can be

Phoenix Press Room

Here, at the Phoenix Pupil Pressroom, we thrive on giving our pupils an independent voice.  Our newspaper is entirely researched, written and published by our young writers from ‘Inside Our World.’ The children dedicate their time, both during and after school, to interview members of staff and their peers to gain insight for their current assignments.

For this term, our journalists have been practising their newspaper writing skills through deepening their understanding of topics being taught in history and geography. Children have shown creativity and innovation through bringing history to life in their first article.

The children have also experienced writing many different types of articles using games and media and have explored the power of Pivot Animator; thus allowing them to understand the components behind motion advertisement.

The aim of the pressroom is to allow the children to delve deeper into their imaginations, acquire new skills and learn how communication technology supports the writing process so that they continue to develop their amazing writing.

The Pupil Pressroom is setting a new challenge for pupils at GPJS!

Complete one of the following activities and your entry may be included in our Autumn 2020 edition!

  • Write an article about how working from home has been going for students. What are the challenges? What are the benefits? How do pupils feel about it?
  • Tips on how to keep healthy whilst learning from home
  • Being safe online
  • Jokes and Riddles!
