Curriculum Overview

Curriculum Development Following Amalgamation

Following the amalgamation of our schools, we are reviewing and aligning our curriculum to establish a consistent, ambitious and carefully sequenced approach to learning from Early Years through to Year 6.

Our existing Key Stage 2 curriculum provides a strong foundation for this work. We are developing our Early Years and Key Stage 1 curriculum documentation to ensure that knowledge and skills build progressively throughout the primary phase, while retaining the strengths of existing provision.

Updated curriculum overviews will be published as this work is completed. In the meantime, the curriculum continues to be taught across all year groups in line with statutory requirements.

A Broad, Ambitious and Inclusive Curriculum

At Grange Park School, our curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity, build knowledge and develop the skills and confidence children need to succeed.

We provide a broad, balanced and enriched education that reflects the diversity of our school community while preparing pupils for the opportunities and challenges of the wider world.

Our ambition is for every child to learn more, remember more and achieve more, regardless of their starting point.

Our Curriculum Approach

Our curriculum follows a carefully planned spiral approach, allowing children to revisit important knowledge and concepts as they progress through the school.

Learning builds upon what children already know, enabling them to make connections, deepen their understanding and apply their knowledge with increasing confidence and independence.

Through high-quality teaching and carefully sequenced learning, we aim to ensure that pupils develop secure foundations while being appropriately challenged throughout their education.

A Broad and Balanced Education

We place great importance on developing strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics, recognising that these are essential to success across the curriculum.

Alongside these core subjects, children experience a rich range of learning opportunities across science, history, geography, computing, languages, the arts, physical education and personal development.

Our curriculum is designed to encourage children to think critically, ask questions, solve problems and develop a genuine interest in learning.

We believe academic excellence and a broad education go hand in hand.

An Inclusive Curriculum for Our Community

Our curriculum celebrates the diversity of Grange Park School and the wider community we serve.

Through the knowledge, experiences and perspectives children encounter, we encourage them to develop respect, empathy and an appreciation of different cultures, backgrounds and beliefs.

We are committed to ensuring that every pupil can access an ambitious curriculum, with appropriate support and challenge to meet individual learning needs.

We want children to see themselves reflected in their learning while also developing an understanding of the world beyond their own experiences.

Personal Development and Wider Opportunities

Education extends far beyond the classroom.

Through assemblies, educational visits, competitions, sporting activities, performing arts and extracurricular opportunities, children develop confidence, resilience, independence and a willingness to embrace new challenges.

These experiences complement our taught curriculum and help pupils develop the values, aspirations and personal qualities that will support them throughout their lives.

Our aim is to prepare children not only for the next stage of their education but also to become thoughtful, responsible and active members of society.

Curriculum Maps

Our curriculum maps provide an overview of the knowledge, skills and learning experiences planned for each year group.

They are designed to help parents understand what children will learn and how their education progresses over time.

We are currently developing and aligning our curriculum documentation across the primary phase following the amalgamation of our schools. Additional year-group overviews will be published as they are completed.
